2 Wash. teens compete on MTV dance show

TACOMA, Wash. — Two Washington teens are competing on MTV's reality dance competition show.

The News-Tribune reports 13-year-old Alex Porter of Graham and 15-year-old Bailey Anderson of Tacoma are two members of the Mukilteo-based Rated Next Generation. The teens are in Los Angeles taping shows this week for "America's Best Dance Crew."

Update: Washington students doing better with new tests, timing

Even Washington middle school students do better with the state's new tests and testing strategy.

Math appears to be less of a problem than it used to be for Washington students trying to graduate from high school. More than two-thirds of them passed new state tests required to get their diplomas. Some students could even clear the hurdle before they finish middle school.

Washington students testing better in math, science

Washington’s students have made some gains on math and science tests. More kids passed state exams in those subjects last year than the year before, according to the Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn.
