Seattle's space shuttle trainer getting new parts this weekend

NASA is making a special delivery to Seattle this weekend. If you go to the Museum of Flight on Saturday morning, you’ll see one of the world’s biggest cargo planes land in the parking lot. It’s carrying the cockpit and crew cabin of a full-sized space shuttle trainer.

NASA to turn over keys to Seattle's shuttle trainer Thursday

NASA plans to officially turn over the keys to a full-size Space Shuttle trainer to Seattle's Museum of Flight on Thursday morning.

The ownership transfer ceremony will be held in Houston at the Johnson Space Center.

Seattle's Museum of Flight says no shuttle is sad, but they're getting the next-best thing

It's a day of disappointment in the northwest for fans of US space exploration. 

Seattle's Museum of Flight got official word this morning that it will not be home to one of the three space shuttles NASA is retiring.  And it won't get the prototype Enterprise (which was only used for test flights and never reached space) either.

Museum of Flight a hopeful contender for Tuesday's space shuttle decision

The odds are about one in seven.  That's the skinny on Seattle's bid to become a host site for one of NASA's retiring space shuttles.

State delegation wants space shuttle to land in Seattle

In a bipartisan push to bring the retired Space Shuttle to the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington's U.S. Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, along with the state's entire congressional delegation, have sent a a letter to Charles F. Bolden, the Administrator of NASA, urging him to select the museum as the home for the retired NASA Space Shuttle Orbiter.
