We're comfortable driving in the snow? Really, Pemco?

This statement might surprise you. It sure surprised us. 

Pemco Insurance makes the claim, based on a survey it did of Washington drivers. Most polled (58%)  say they feel 'comfortable' behind the wheel when driving on snowy roads.

Snowy Wednesday morning for some commuters

Snow greeted some Puget Sound communities this morning, making for a slippery commute.  Buses in Snohomish County skidded on freeway ramps, according to The Seattle Times.

At least two Community Transit buses were stuck along Interstate 5 entrance ramps south of Everett about 7 a.m. Wednesday as snow slickened road surfaces, according to the State Patrol.

I-5 express lanes in Seattle to remain open southbound through evening commute

The Washington State Department of Transportation has decided to keep the I-5 express lanes open in the southbound direction through Tuesday afternoon.

In certain snow and ice conditions WSDOT leaves these lanes open during normally scheduled closures to prevent ice and snow accumulation. Drivers headed in the northbound direction through downtown Seattle should plan accordingly.

Pierce County roads worsen as snow continues

Monday's snow is wreaking havoc in Pierce County. The conditions have clogged roads with multiple accidents and spinouts, leaving some commuters stranded and affecting public transit operations.
