Adults who are thinking about going back to college have more to ponder than whether the time and money they’ve already invested will count toward a degree today.  They also need to get ready for the 21st-century workplace.

One thing that holds people back from completing their degrees is wondering whether their liberal arts credits are relevant in today’s job market — where the higher paid positions are in high-tech.

Every time a cop goes out on a call, chances are good that the encounter will be with someone suffering from mental illness. It’s the reason the Seattle Police Department has trained officers in crisis intervention and teamed them up with mental health professionals.

The local chapter of the Service Employees International Union has filed a petition on behalf of adjunct faculty members at Seattle University.

The adjunct faculty members, which include part-time, temporary and other contingent instructors, want better teaching conditions, including higher pay.

It’s been twenty years since Tacoma lost its only law school. Now, civic leaders are hoping they can bring back a legal-degree program to the South Sound.  They say it will help train lawyers who stay and work in Tacoma and add energy to the city's intellectual climate.
