Safeco Field “takes the cake” as the stadium with the best craft beer selection of them all, according to a new ranking by thedailymeal.com.

“The ballpark is actually known nationally for its reputation as a good place to watch baseball and drink good beer,” said the website.

Have Mariner fans lost hope?

Mariner fans have left the building. Some never even arrived. Safeco Field attendance hit a record low this week. This photo is from a game from last year's 101-loss season, in which the M's lost to the Cubs in extra innings.

The Mariners have said that 2011 is a rebuilding year. But, judging by recent attendance at Safeco Field, they're going to have to rebuild more than just the team. KPLU sports commentator Art Thiel says the bond between the Mariners and their fans has been broken.

Dave Niehaus 'life celebration' Saturday at Safeco Field

The Seattle Mariners will hold a “Public Celebration of Life” for late broadcaster Dave Niehaus tomorrow.  Scheduled start is just after 1 p.m. Saturday at Safeco Field. 

Family, players and close associates will pay tribute to Niehaus, the only play-by-play announcer the team has ever had.  He died of a heart attack last month at the age of 75.
