Why King County nixed woman’s marriage to a corporation in Seattle

A woman married a corporation in Seattle yesterday, and today King County says it was all a mistake.

“It was just an error,” a King County spokesperson said of why the woman was allowed to get a license and marry “Corporation Person." An error the county said it has fixed by voiding the license and returning the $64 fee.

QUINCY, Wash. — Police say an explosive found in a potato bin at a processing plant in Quincy Wednesday morning was an old military device that was apparently left over from practice bombing runs years ago in Eastern Washington.

Update: Bobcat that broke into Washington prison will be OK

The bobcat that suffered razor-wire cuts breaking into a Washington state prison at Monroe is going to be OK.

A spokeswoman for the Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital in Snohomish says the animal has been stitched up, and the prognosis is excellent.

Spokeswoman Charlotte Graeber Compton says the bobcat has been transferred to the Sarvey Wildlife Center in Arlington. It can recover there before being released back into the wild.

Bizarre incidents at Washington and Oregon state capitols

OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington and Oregon state capitols have been the scenes of two bizarre incidents in recent days. Both involved apparently mentally unstable men. One had a gallon of gasoline, the other wielded a samurai sword.

The first scare happened over the weekend on the Capitol Mall in Salem. Early Saturday morning a state groundskeeper spotted a man armed with a three-foot Samurai sword. As he got closer, the man reportedly starting swinging the sword and yelling obscenities. The 28-year old was arrested after Salem Police held him at gunpoint.

Man files $20,000 insurance claim for dead cat ... but cat wasn't dead or real

OLYMPIA, Wash. – A Tacoma man is facing attempted theft and insurance fraud charges after filing a $20,000 claim for a fictitious dead cat, using pet photos he lifted off the internet, according to a press release from the Washington State Insurance Commission.

“We’ve handled some pretty unusual fraud cases, but this is one of the stranger ones,” said Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler.

Puyallup 'loose tiger' still a mystery, continues to tweet on the run

PUYALLUP, Wash. — Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer says there have been no new reports Friday morning of a tiger on the loose near Puyallup. However, the reputed tiger is still posting away on its Twitter feed and others have been having fun online with the "loose tiger."
