Climate change report shows major impacts for Northwest

Huge areas of Seattle's Port could be inundated when higher tides combine with more extreme storm surges, accdording to the Draft National Assessment on Climate Change

Imagine a future in which major areas of Seattle’s waterfront are flooded because of rising tides.

Businesses that front on Elliot Bay, including the famous Edgewater Hotel, or parks such as Myrtle Edwards or Golden Gardens, would have to adjust to storm surges more than six feet higher than we’re used to.

According to a new federal report on climate change, that future is just a few decades away.

Artistic passions on display at the NW Flower and Garden Show

It’s been sunny and fair lately…but what do you do when the dark and cloudy skies of late winter get you down?
 
For many people in the Pacific Northwest, the answer is gardening.
 
Their passion is on display this week at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show.

Is the Northwest stranger than elsewhere? New comedy show has us wondering

A new online show debuted last week called Local Brew. The show describes itself as "Seattle's online comedy show." The pilot episode includes a remake of a Cavalia commercial.

Portland put its odd side on display last January with the debut of Portlandia. Now, several residents here are responding with a show of Seattle's stranger side. And, in typical Seattle fashion, it's online and called Local Brew.
