The Seahawks' late-season winning streak is keeping their hopes alive for making the playoffs. A lot of things have to happen first, but there's a sliver of hope they'll make it to the post-season for the second year in a row.

Snow flurries and a fired up Bears team proved too much for Seattle, as Chicago controlled the game through most of three quarters, and held on for a 35-24 NFC semifinal playoff win at Soldier Field.

The NFC North champs scored on their first possession, led by the steady arm of quarterback Jay Cutler, making his professional post-season debut. The Bears offensive line protected Cutler all afternoon, leading to a 28-0 margin in the 3rd quarter. 

Seattle's offense sputtered through the first half, hurt by dropped receptions, and the Bears defensive line.  Trailing 28-3, the Seahawks made something of a comeback in the 4th quarter, but were never close to challenging for the lead. 

Have you ever seen an actual Seahawk? No, we're not talking about Matt Hasselbeck or Marshawn Lynch here, but the natural, feathered namesake of Seattle's NFL team.

The bird's proper name is the Steller's sea eagle and two of them now are now in residence at Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo. The pair, which arrived last month from the Los Angeles Zoo, have just emerged from a standard 30-day quarantine and can be seen in the zoo's Northern Trail section.

The Seattle Seahawks sent shock waves around the NFL Saturday by beating steep odds and pulling off one of the biggest upsets in league history, defeating the defending Super Bowl-champion New Orleans Saints, 41 to 36. 

Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck threw four touchdown passes, lifting the 'Hawks offense, tallying 272 yards in the air. It was Hasselbeck's best passing performance in a playoff game. 

Washington looks for better ways to fund higher education, the Seahawks claim the NFC West title and a playoff berth, and Mercer Island High's band prances through London's New Year's parade.
