Positive changes for UW football ... bowl game on horizon?

2011 will be a season of change for the Huskies: a new starting quarterback and other rising stars, the Pac-10 becoming the Pac-12 and the final season for the old Husky Stadium.

Eastern Washington wins Div. 1 football title

Eastern Washington's Eagles staged a thrilling comeback against the University of Delaware to win the NCAA Division 1 football title, the first for the school. 

After trailing much of the game, Eastern rallied for a 20-19 victory in Frisco, Texas, before a crowd that included enthusiastic Delaware alum Joe Biden. The Vice President and Mrs. Biden.

Coach Steve Sarkisian told ESPN it "a big win for the Husky Nation" after his Washington team beat daunting odds to defeat the 18th-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers in Thursday's Holiday Bowl in San Diego. The UW dominated on defense and offense for a 19-7 victory.

Huskies' bowl bid hopes are twofold

Washington football coach Steve Sarkisian could still lead his Huskies to a bowl game, despite their current losing record. He'll need to steer them to wins over California and Washington State to secure a bid to a minor bowl.
