As a Sustainer, you provide steady, reliable support for KPLU. Since we know we can count on your monthly support, we are able to decrease fundraising expenses and put more of your contribution directly into programs.

How does the Sustainer giving plan work?

It’s simple; your contribution is automatically charged from your bank account or credit/ debit card each month. Your membership continues uninterrupted but you can increase, decrease or stop your monthly gift at any time.

Q. How do I reach the Member Services Department if I have questions about my monthly giving?

8:00am-5:00pm, Pacific Standard Time) or send an email message to info@kplu.org. You can also leave a voicemail after- hours and we will return your call within two business days.

Q. What are my payment options as a Sustaining Contributor?

We offer two options:

1. Automatic Withdrawal from your banking account (EFT): This giving option provides a great alternative payment method for Sustaining Members like you! EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) is a secure way to withdraw ongoing payments directly from your checking account instead of charging your credit card. There are benefits for both you and KPLU should you choose to use this option, as KPLU incurs fewer processing fees with EFTS so more money goes to directly support the news and jazz programs you love.

2. Credit Cards: We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover

Q: How do I switch to a payment plan using Automatic Withdrawal from my banking account (EFT)?

There are several ways to switch:

1. Please visit www.kplu.org/support  and click on the “Update my payment information” link. On the form, choose option: “Switch to EFT” when you reach the Confirming Payment Method section.

2. Give Member Services a call at 1-800-677-5758 during business hours (Mon- Fri, 8:00am- 5:00pm) and request to switch to an EFT.

3. Email info@kplu.org and request to switch to EFT.

TO AUTHORIZE EFT PROCESSING, WE WILL MAIL YOU A FORM, TO BE SIGNED AND RETURNED WITH A VOIDED CHECK AND/OR YOUR BANK ACCOUNT AND ROUTING INFORMATION.

Q. When will my automatic withdrawal from my banking account (EFT) get processed every month?

Automatic withdrawals are processed on the 14th of each month, unless this date falls on a weekend; then it processes on the 13th if the 14th falls on a Saturday or the 15th if the 14th falls on a Sunday.

Q. How do I update the credit/ debit card for my monthly giving?

There are several ways to update your credit card information:

1. Visit www.kplu.org/support and click on the “Update my payment information” link.

2. Call Member Services at 1-800-677-5758 during business hours of Mon. - Fri, 8:00am-5:00pm, PST.

3. Use the form and postage-paid envelope to respond if you received a letter requesting updated information.

*For security reasons, please do not send updated credit card numbers via email.*

Q. KPLU contacted me to ask for an updated expiration date for my debit or credit card. How should I reply?

There are several ways to reply:

1. Visit www.kplu.org/support and click on the “Update my payment information” button.

2. Call Member Services at 1-800-677-5758 during business hours of Mon. - Fri, 8am-5pm, PST.

3. Use the form and postage-paid envelope to respond if you received a letter requesting updated information

4. Send KPLU a letter with the information, remitting to: KPLU Membership, 12180 Park Ave S, Tacoma, WA 98447.

Q.If my card expiration date changed but my card number did not, why do I have to provide KPLU with my full card number again?

KPLU adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to its handling of donor credit card account information. Payment Card Industry (PCI) regulations require that KPLU not store your full card information on its computers, so when you provide your new credit card expiration date we also need the card number.

Q. How do I change my monthly giving amount?

You have several options:

1. Visit www.kplu.org/support and click on the “Change my monthly contribution” button. From there you will be directed to a secure form where you can enter a new giving amount.

2. Call Member Services at 1-800-677-5758 (KPLU business hours are Mon-Fri, 8:00am- 5:00pm).

3. Send an email message with your preferred giving amount to info@kplu.org. If you use the email option, please be certain you receive a message back from us letting you know we have fulfilled your giving amount change.

Q. How do I make a one-time contribution in addition to my monthly giving?

Please visit www.kplu.org/support and click on the "One-Time Contribution" button. Or call Member Services at 1-800-677-5758 during business hours (Mon-Fri, 8:00am - 5:00pm).

Q.  Can I skip the next few payments of my monthly giving?

You can skip monthly payments at any time. Just give us a call at 1-800-677-5758 during business hours (Mon-Fri, 8:00am- 5:00pm) or email us with your request at info@kplu.org. If you use the email option, please be certain you receive a message back from us letting you know we have fulfilled your request.

Q. If I use a credit card for my monthly contribution, when will this withdrawal occur?

Your monthly contribution withdraws a day or two after the day of the month you originally made your Sustaining pledge. For example: If you pledged your support as a Sustaining Member on October 5, your monthly withdrawal will occur on or near the 5th of each month.

Q. Can I change the date of my monthly credit card withdrawal?

Yes! CallMember Services at 1-800-677-5758 (KPLU business hours are Mon-Fri, 8:00am- 5:00pm) or email us with your request at info@kplu.org. If you use the email option, please be certain you receive a message back form us letting you know we have fulfilled your request.

Q. How do I stop/ cancel by monthly contribution?

You can stop your monthly contribution at any time. Just give us a call at 1-800-677-5758 during business hours (Mon- Fri, 8:00am - 5:00pm). You can also send a message with your cancelation request via email to info@kplu.org. If you use the email option, please be certain you receive a message back form us letting you know we have fulfilled your request.

Q. Are my monthly contributions tax deductible?

Yes, your contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. KPLU will send you written confirmation of your contribution at the end of January. Please consult your tax advisor or attorney for information in regards to specific situations.

Q. How do I receive my yearly thank-you gift?

During our fall and spring pledge drives, we will have assorted thank-you gifts available for our Sustaining Members. Around these drives, Sustaining Members with active email addresses should receive an email notification containing more information on the thank you gifts available and how to request a gift. You can also request a thank-you gift by calling us at 1-800-677-5758 during business hours (Mon- Fri, 8:00am- 5:00pm) or send a message with your thank-you gift request via email to info@kplu.org. If you use the email option, please be certain you receive a message back from us letting you know we have fulfilled your request.

Q. When will I receive my thank-you gift?

Please allow 4- 6 weeks to receive your gift from the date of request. If you have not received your item within 6 weeks, please contact us at 1-800-677-5758 during business hours (Mon- Fri, 8:00am - 5:00pm) or email info@kplu.org so we can assist in sending you a replacement or finding a substitute should we be out-of-stock of the original item.

Q. Why did you deduct the cost of the thank-you gift I received from my Sustaining contribution?

By law, we are required to deduct the price of your thank-you gift/s from your donation should the item/s have a Fair Market Value over $9.99. Please consult your tax advisor or attorney for additional information.

Q. How do I set up gift matching with my employer?

Please contact KPLU and let us know you would like to set up employee gift matching through your employer by calling us at 1-800-677-5758 during business hours (Mon- Fri, 8:00am- 5:00pm) or email info@kplu.org. After that, we will provide you with further details to facilitate the set- up process

Q. Does KPLU accept vehicle donations?

Yes! Donate your vehicle, and we'll use the proceeds to support your favorite programs and music. Plus, you'll be eligible for a tax-deduction from the donation. KPLU accepts any vehicle - running or not - including cars, trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles and more. We work with our public radio colleagues at Car Talk Vehicle Donation Services.
