About Halie Loren:

Halie’s voice has been described as “deep and rich and warm, gorgeous, graceful, and somehow earthy and ethereal at once.”  Think Peggy Lee, Billie Holiday and Joni Mitchell or, more recently, Diana Krall and Norah Jones.  The 27 year-old vocalist/songwriter knows her way around a song, whether it be a composition of her own or one of her surprising and always dead-on covers including standards like “Summertime,” “God Bless the Child,” “Blue Skies,” and “La Vie en Rose.”

We invited Halie into our studios for a live Studio Session in October 2013 when she was in town to promote the release of her new CD, Simply Love.  She did a really cool rendition of the Turtles' hit "Happy Together."

Here's Halie doing a fresh take on the Jimmy McHugh/Dorothy Fields classic, "On the Sunny Side of the Street."

Halie's first live Studio Session on KPLU was in October 2012.  The repertoire included her inventive cover of Bobbie Gentry's "Ode to Billie Joe" and an original composition, "A Woman's Way."
