The exhibit is called "Ancestral Modern," a title that relates to the fact that Aboriginal culture is at least 50,000 years old but the artwork on display is no more than 40 years old.
Mon, 02 Jul 2012 12:30:36 +0000 Florangela Davila 5465 at http://kplu.org At the Seattle Art Museum: Australian Aboriginal art At the Seattle Art Museum, listening to old records is the show http://kplu.org/post/seattle-art-museum-listening-old-records-show
The newest show at the Seattle Art Museum features thousands of records, a DJ booth made out of an old church pew and a hands-on record player.

The installation is called "The Listening Room" and it's the latest work by Theaster Gates.

Sun, 18 Dec 2011 16:16:14 +0000 Florangela Davila 3476 at http://kplu.org At the Seattle Art Museum, listening to old records is the show Luminous art with some baggage http://kplu.org/post/luminous-art-some-baggage
Seattle is home to one of the most extensive collections of Asian art in North America. It lives at the Seattle Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park. But over the next several weeks the collection’s best pieces are on display at the Seattle Art Museum in downtown.

The exhibit is called Luminous: The Art of Asia. Where do you see that collection?Well, you are in luck because Seattle has its very own Official Bad Art Museum of Art.
