About the hosts of Record Bin Roulette

John Maynard started working in radio in the seventies as a DJ at Seattle’s KJR AM which at the time was the dominant AM station in the Seattle market. After a brief stint as a restaurateur and night club owner, Maynard returned to radio with Robin Erickson, creating the hugely popular “Robin and Maynard Show.” In the more than 20 years under that marquee, Maynard flew with the Blue Angels, piloted the Goodyear Blimp, sang with Donny Osmond and hung out in a Universal Studios bar with Kojak (Telly Savalas).
Musician, producer, and engineer John Kessler was a touring bass player for 20 years. As Musical Director of NPR’s “Mountain Stage” radio program from 1983 to 1997, Kessler worked with literally hundreds of musicians, including Dr John, The Band, Larry Coryell and Sarah MacLachlan. Kessler joined KPLU as host of “All Blues” in 1999 and has taken the show to the top of the Seattle radio charts. This year, Kessler is the recipient of the Blues Foundation’s Public Radio Award for “Keeping the Blues Alive.”
