 The Portland Jazz Festival is February 15-24, 2008. This year’s theme is “The Shape of Jazz to Come – 1959-2008 and Beyond” and gets off to a grand start with a performance by 2007 Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Lifetime Achievement winner, Ornette Coleman.
KPLU and Amtrak Cascades are making it easy and fun to travel from Seattle for both weekends of the Festival - February 15-18, and February 22-25. (The KPLU Jazz Train is also available from Bellingham; price of package is slightly higher. See details below.) We are still accepting reservations through Friday, January 18.
KPLU has created a fun and affordable travel package for two people each weekend. The 2008 KPLU Portland Jazz Festival Escape begins on the KPLU Jazz Train/Amtrak Cascades and also includes three nights at the Hilton Portland & Executive Towers, three ticketed concerts (see details below), roundtrip bus transfers, a Friday night listener reception, and Sunday jazz brunch.
Weekend #1 (February 15-18) is hosted by KPLU Evening Jazz host Abe Beeson.
Weekend #2 (February 22-25) is hosted by KPLU Midday Jazz host (and Maceo Maven) Robin Lloyd.

Sunday jazz brunch: February 17, 9:30 a.m., Alexander’s at the top of the Hilton Portland with Abe Beeson. Willamette Valley Buffet featuring juices, fresh fruits, eggs, potatoes, breakfast meats, French toast, dry cereal, freshly baked breakfast pastries, coffee or tea.
