KPLU and Amtrak Cascades are making it easy and fun to travel from Seattle for the first weekend of the Festival - February 14-16. (The KPLU Jazz Train is also available from Bellingham; price of package is slightly higher. See details below.) Reservations are now closed.
KPLU has created a fun and affordable travel package for two people - priced 10% below regular consumer fares and tickets. The 2009 KPLU Portland Jazz Festival Escape begins on the KPLU Jazz Train/Amtrak Cascades with Abe Beeson, host of KPLU's Evening Jazz, and also includes two nights at the Hilton Portland & Executive Towers, two ticketed concerts (see details below), roundtrip bus transfers, and a Saturday night listener reception.

From Seattle: $895 double occupancy, $575 single occupancy From Bellingham: $915 double occupancy, $595 single occupancy
Each KPLU Portland Jazz Festival Escape package for two includes: RT Transportation - Depart Seattle Saturday, February 14 at 11:20 a.m. on the KPLU Jazz Train/Amtrak Cascades to Portland – arrive at 3 p.m. Return on Amtrak Cascades to Seattle Monday, February 16 departing Portland at 2:50 p.m. – arrive at 6:20 p.m. All seats are coach. Hosted by KPLU’s Abe Beeson. Please note: “RT from Seattle” includes travel from Seattle, Tukwila, Tacoma, Olympia-Lacey, Centralia, Kelso-Longview, Vancouver, Washington.
“RT from Bellingham” includes travel from Bellingham, Mount Vernon, Everett, and Edmonds – add $10.00 per person. Train leaves Bellingham on February 14 at 8:35 a.m.
Accommodations: Two nights at the Hilton Portland & Executive Towers in downtown Portland (February 14, 15) Double occupancy (one king bed or two queen beds) Check-out is 12 noon. Roundtrip bus transfers: From Portland Amtrak station upon arrival to Hilton on February 14; from Hilton to Portland Amtrak station on February 16. Two buses will meet the party at the train upon arrival and two buses will pick up the party at the Hilton on the day of departure.
Festival ticket package - two tickets to each of the following concerts – reserved seating:
Saturday, February 14 Dianne Reeves with the Oregon Symphony, 7:30 p.m., Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall
Sunday, February 15 McCoy Tyner and Joe Lovano plus Don Byron, 2 p.m., Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall
Saturday evening reception: February 14, 5-6 p.m., Alexander’s at the top of the Hilton Portland, complimentary hors d’oeuvres plus one complimentary domestic or imported beer, house wine, call drink, soft drink or mineral water; cash bar for all other beverages.
